BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

Wesner, Rainbolt & Regier had its beginnings in western Oklahoma in 1927 when Jess Wesner, a Washita County native, opened his law office in Sentinel.  He became the County Judge of Washita County for a brief period before opening the law practice in Cordell. Jess is now deceased. Jess was joined by his son, Ron Wesner, following Ron's graduation from law school, admission to the bar, and a brief period as an attorney for Gulf Oil Corporation.  Ron began his practice with the Cordell firm and continued until March 1, 2004.  After celebrating his 50th anniversary as an attorney, he took retirement.

Jess and Ron were joined in 1978 by Charles P. Rainbolt, a Washita County native, who had previously interned for Oklahoma Attorney General Larry Derryberry. Charles is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma (BA 1970, JD 1974). After admission to the bar, he worked as a petroleum land man, managed a legal aid office, and worked in a Congressional Campaign. Charles has been a partner with the firm since 1978, except for an eight-year period from 1993-2001 when he accepted an appointment as State Director of Farmers Home Administration (now called USDA Rural Development). Charles has been a part of the Oklahoma Board of Bar Examiners (Chair), Board of Editors of Oklahoma Bar Journal, Temporary Judge of Oklahoma Court of Appeals, Oklahoma Farm Crisis Committee (Chair), Washita County Bar Association, Oklahoma Community Institute (Chair), Oklahoma Rural Development Council (Co-Chair and General Counsel), Oklahoma Public Finance Forum (Chair), Oklahoma Food and Agriculture Council (Chair), Oklahoma State Emergency Board, Oklahoma Housing Finance Agency, Washita County Election Board (Secretary), Washita County Board of Health, Hospital Board and Midwestern Oklahoma Development Authority.  Charles has been an attorney for over 40 years and continues to serve in Wesner, Rainbolt & Regier as well as in the office of Derryberry & Naifeh, LLP in Oklahoma City.

Jess, Ron, and Charles were joined in 1979 by Ron's son, Mark R. Wesner. Mark was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma (BA 1976, JD 1979). Mark served as an Associate from 1979-1980 and became a partner in the firm in 1980.  He represented several municipalities, was an attorney for Kiwash Rural Electric Cooperative, was the designated attorney for the Farm Service Agency and served as City Attorney for Cordell. He served a short period as part-time Assistant District Attorney for Washita County 1990-1991. Mark’s experience has been in Oklahoma District Courts, predominantly Washita County, in both criminal and civil cases, including mental health, juvenile, family law and probate cases.  After 43 years as an attorney and partner, Mark retired in the Fall of 2022.  


Bruce Wesner, a Washita County native and the son of Ron Wesner, began working for the firm in 1990 as a paralegal. After 32 years as a paralegal, Bruce retired in 2022.

 

On October 1, 2020, Shane A. Regier of Cordell, Oklahoma, became the first partner to be added to the firm since 1979. Upon the addition to the firm, the law firm changed from “Wesner, Wesner & Rainbolt PLLC” to “Wesner, Rainbolt & Regier, PLLC”. Shane is the son of Calvin and Delena Regier (CHS class of 1967) is a graduate of Mountain View public schools, Southwestern Oklahoma State University and Tulsa University where he graduated with honors and in the top 15 percent of his law school class. He was admitted to the Oklahoma Bar Association in 2006. In addition to being involved with farming and ranching, Shane has significant experience in banking, trusts, real estate title, wills, estates and probate law. He most recently served as Vice President and Commercial Lender of Equity Bank in Cordell.
